Portledge School, a gem of independent education in the US, is expanding and transforming. With respect to its history - built on the iconic 1910 Coffin estate - and with the modern needs of its students in mind, it is being given a new breath of life through a project that combines aesthetics, functionality and technological excellence.

ARCHITECTURE WITH VALUES

The three-storey building, inspired by the school's values - kindness, honour, purpose, respect - houses modern classrooms, a theatre space, and a modern dining area. Every part of the building is designed to serve the student: to inspire, to provide safety, and to equip them with all the tools for a path of thought, responsibility, and creativity.

THE PROSPECTS OF LEARNING

The design brings the everyday experience of learning to life. The clean geometry of the openings and spacious corridors promote motion, curiosity and communication. Light penetrates each space, enhancing clarity and warmth. The choice of ELVIAL 8600 & 8800 aluminium systems was not made by chance.
